Designed for small private groups (maximum 8 guests), the day unfolds at a human pace, allowing time to observe, touch, learn, taste, and reflect.
Throughout the walk, the mountain becomes a living classroom: limestone formations shaped over millions of years, fossil records more than 200 million years old, endemic flora you can touch and smell, and sweeping views across the western plains.
These elements also inspire the chef’s menu, transforming geological time, seasonal vegetation, and place into flavour, texture, and presentation.
The experience begins and ends in Lisbon, with seamless logistics and total comfort.

Your day begins with a private pick-up from your hotel in Lisbon to the trailhead at Serra de Montejunto. The transfer takes approximately 50 minutes, with a short pause shortly before arrival to stretch, refresh, and settle into the day’s rhythm.
Once at the trailhead, the hike begins. Covering approximately 6 km (3.7 miles), it is guided at a measured pace that encourages observation, learning, and reflection, with insights drawn from the guide’s academic training in geology, ecology, and landscape interpretation.
Along the path, Montejunto reveals its stories. You pass through rock formations and aromatic herbs, pausing at the windmills, some restored and turning gently with the wind, others quiet ruins holding centuries of labour.
The trail continues past the Dominican Convent of São Domingos, a site of devotion and history, and leads to the Royal Ice Factory, where stone chambers once held ice destined for Lisbon. Each stop invites observation, touch, and reflection, connecting land, history, and human ingenuity as you move across the western plains.

At midday, you arrive at a secluded woodland setting, where a multi-course author lunch awaits.
This is not a picnic: each dish is carefully designed and plated with intention, reflecting the textures, aromas, and rhythms of the landscape explored during the walk. Guests are invited to linger, taste, and connect with both food and place.

- Dietary requirements must be communicated in advance; the chef can accommodate most dietary restrictions
- The experience runs in most weather conditions; route or logistics may be adjusted for safety and comfort.
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your place.
This deposit is fully refundable up to 5 days before departure.
The remaining 50% balance is due 3 days before the experience.
This balance is non-refundable, as preparations and food sourcing will already be underway.
If Savor Trails must cancel the experience due to unsafe weather or other safety considerations, all payments will be fully refunded, or guests may choose to reschedule.
